IntelliScope
IntelliRail’s AI-Based Rail Head Inspection System
A grinder traditionally moves along the entire segment of track, removing a standard thickness of metal from the rail head. While this removes defects, it reduces the lifespan of the tracks. IntelliScope helps make informed decisions regarding the extent (depth) of railhead grinding required. This ensures optimal grinding and prolongs the life of railway tracks.
IntelliScope uses AI and other cutting-edge technology to maximize accuracy and convenience in rail head inspection.
- Machine vision: High-speed cameras and laser lights capture high-quality images of the rail head.
- Ultrafast image capture: Images can be captured even while the rail inspection vehicle or train is in motion.
- Edge computing: Images are processed and optimized in real-time.
- IntelliCloud: Optimized images are relayed to the Cloud for AI-driven advanced analytics and storage.
- Web-based interface: Images can be viewed within minutes by the concerned inspection center.
- Downloadable reports: Reports can be downloaded and shared for coordination with the grinding team.
Why IntelliScope Stands Out from the Rest
The transition from manual to AI-based rail head inspection represents a significant shift in railway track maintenance, primarily driven by safety, efficiency, and data consistency. Automated systems, which can also operate on a moving inspection vehicle, excel in speed and repeatability.
IntelliScope takes automated rail head inspection to the next level.
- Each setup includes 2 industrial grade HDR cameras with a well-tuned Image Signal Processor.
- Cameras have IP67 rating, which means they are fully protected from dust and can withstand immersion in water up to 1 meter deep for up to 30 minutes.
- Images are captured at speeds of up to 60 frames per second.
- Cameras are aligned vertically to get a clear view of both the rail heads.
- Image stream is synced with chainage data for accurate location mapping.
- 2 sets of lights are provided for each camera.
- Lights have IP69 rating, meaning they can withstand waterjets, mechanical stress and dust.
- Lights are optimally placed to provide excellent exposure for both gauging and non-gauging sides of the rail.
- Strobing property of the lights eliminates motion blur, dampens heating effect and provides peak brightness.
