Defective rolling stock produces high impact on wheels. This in turn damages the most expensive Railway asset – the tracks. A Wheel Impact Load Detector (WILD) measures the impact load, so that defects can be rectified, preventing accidents and expensive maintenance due to rail damage, wheel damage, wheel bearing failure, etc.

IntelliWILD plays a key role in condition-based maintenance by detecting defects early, allowing railway maintenance teams to immediately attend to defective rolling stock. The system reduces service failures and unplanned maintenance, reducing the cost of repairing the tracks and rolling stocks.

IntelliWILD:

• Accurately measures the dynamic load from the wheel to the rail.
• The data is sent to IntelliCloud for storage and analysis.
• The data for each run is analyzed.
• Trend analysis is performed for past runs of the same wheel for high impact load caused by skidded or shelled wheels, out of roundness, long waveform irregularities in wheel, broken springs, and uneven loading.
• Raises alarm for maximum impact load and ILF.
• Stakeholders can receive alerts as SMS on their phones. They can also view and download reports via a web interface.
